Australia's original bookie, best for racing
This TAB review takes a hard look at one of the oldest and most well-established betting sites in Australia. We’ll get stuck into the odds, markets and features, to help you decide whether or not there’s still life in this famous old dog.
Other areas you’ll learn about include the mobile app, deposit options and payout speeds, plus customer support and the promotions for regular TAB punters.

The name TAB comes from Totalisator Agency Board, a government body formed in Victoria back in 1961 to manage legal off‑course race betting. Each state originally had its own organisation, all of which were eventually privatised – starting with Victoria in 1994, which became Tabcorp.
Over time, mergers with other state TABs and the Tatts Group produced Tabcorp Holdings Limited. Today, this Melbourne-based company is responsible for www.tab.com.au, as well as more than 4,000 retail betting outlets.
Yes. Not only is TAB one of the oldest sports betting brands in Australia, but it also boasts multiple licenses. It’s regulated by the Northern Territory Racing Commission, but in December 2023, it also won the rights to Victoria’s only state betting license. That contract won’t expire until 2044.
The site features more than 25 sports, both at home and overseas. Among these is a full thoroughbred horse racing and greyhound product, complete with live streams, plus a small selection of esports. At the time of writing, League of Legends, Dota 2 and CS2 were available.
Coverage is reasonable, with a competitive number of markets on every major sport. Take international T20 cricket games, for instance, where you’ll find around 60 betting opportunities per game – the most we’ve seen elsewhere is 90 at Neds. NRL and AFL games are broadly similar to other leading betting sites.
In terms of odds, TAB offers some of the best in Australia. AFL matches are priced to 105%, just like Sportsbet. This is one of the lowest bookmaker margins we know of. PointsBet and PlayUp get close at 105.5%, with Ladbrokes and Neds a little further behind at 106%.
The NRL odds are good too, with TAB’s compilers betting to around 105.5%. This is just behind the likes of Pointsbet and Sportsbet, but slightly better than Ladbrokes.
It’s a similar story for major cricket games, where a margin of around 5.5% to 6% is taken. And soccer odds are consistently towards the top of the market too, with UEFA competitions and the Premier League priced around 106.5% to 107%.
That’s comparable to Neds, and only slightly worse than Sportsbet. It blows Picklebet completely out of the water – their soccer markets feature a bookmaker-friendly 15% margin.
Next in this TAB review, we’ll look at the different payment methods. And, as the table below shows, there’s a pretty good selection when it comes to deposits. However, the site would certainly benefit from a few additional withdrawal options.
| Payment Method | Deposit | Withdrawal |
| Debit Card | ✅ | ❌ |
| PayID | ✅ | ❌ |
| PayPal | ✅ | ✅ |
| Apple Pay | ✅ | ❌ |
| Google Pay | ✅ | ❌ |
| TAB Account Card | ✅ | ✅ |
| Bank Transfer | ❌ | ✅ |
Like all Aussies bookies, you can’t use credit cards. The only debit cards accepted are Visa and Mastercard.
It’s possible to deposit as little as $1 when using options like Apple Pay, plus you can fund your account in-store with a TAB Account Card. There’s an equally low minimum withdrawal amount of $1, but only for selected payment methods.
The TAB payout times are pretty standard. Most EFTs take from one to three days, depending on your request. Anything after midday is handled the following day, with nothing done over the weekend. PayPal and TAB Account Card withdrawals are processed instantly.
There is a TAB sports betting app, and it’s right up there with the best in Australia. Don’t just take our word for it, though – look at the feedback from the official app marketplaces.

If you’re looking for TAB bonus codes, you’re going to be disappointed – this type of marketing was banned by Aussie regulators in 2019. Sadly, that means you won’t get a welcome bonus.
There are still a few promotions for regular punters, though. You just have to log in and look for “Today’s Offers” in your account.
We don’t have many complaints about TAB, which is a solid all-round sports betting site that’s popular for a good reason. But the lack of a live chat support service is criminal in this day and age.
Still, you can at least make a phone call, something which seems to be dying out elsewhere. And there’s always email for those less urgent matters. The address isn’t published, but there’s a contact form available in the Help Centre.
Incidentally, TAB’s Help Centre is one of the most detailed collections of FAQs we’ve ever seen from a sports betting site – kudos for that.
Before we wrap up this TAB betting site review, here’s a quick step-by-step guide to signing up:
Should you fail the verification process, you’ll be prompted to submit further details, such as a working visa, Medicare card or passport. If you don’t have a driver’s license, click the link to jump straight to this step.
The main thing to take from this TAB review is how good this online betting platform still is. While other well-established bookies like Sportsbet have taken their popularity for granted, resulting in a poor user experience, TAB continues to provide a solid product.
It’s not just the competitive odds and wide variety of betting opportunities on all major sports. TAB offers a healthy selection of deposit options, with low minimum transaction limits that allow everyone to play. It’s also known for paying in a timely fashion, and the app is first class.
There are a couple of negatives, as you’d expect from any site. We’d like to see a live chat support option, for instance, plus a few more withdrawal methods. But otherwise, TAB remains a good option for most Aussie punters, even in 2026.
The TAB brand belongs to Tabcorp Holdings Limited, a publicly listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange. No single entity owns the group, with ownership spread across multiple investors.
To acquire the TAB sports betting app, open the App Store on your iOS phone, or Google Play for Android devices. Search “TAB sports betting” and follow the instructions. Alternatively, load the website by clicking a link in this guide, then use the buttons at the foot of the page.
There isn’t a TAB promo code for new accounts, unfortunately. Local gambling laws prevent Aussie bookmakers from offering welcome bonuses, so you’re not going to find one.
Yes. TAB provides regular players with several bonuses and promotions. Log into your account and check “Today’s Offers” to see what’s available right now. We’ve highlighted a few elsewhere on this page.
No. There isn’t a TAB referral code, sadly. This well-known betting platform doesn’t offer any sort of a friend referral bonus at the moment.
To reset your password, click the “Login” on the TAB homepage, then the “Forgot your password?” link. Enter your email, date of birth and last name, then check your inbox for further password reset instructions.
