A Brief History of Palmerbet

Before getting into details with our Palmerbet betting site review, it’s probably helpful to discuss the company background. This is a local business that’s family owned and operated, founded by bookmaker Ted Palmer in Sydney more than 60 years ago.

The online betting site was launched in 2013 by brothers Andrew, Grant, Matthew and Adrian Palmer. Today, the company offices remain at Canterbury Racecourse, where their grandfather used to stand in the betting ring.

Is Palmerbet a Trustworthy Betting Site?

Definitely. The name Palmer has been associated with Australian bookmaking for over 60 years, and its online platform launched over a decade ago. This is certainly an experienced operator and a name you can trust.

Palmerbet is licensed by Racing NSW and the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing. It’s also part of the NSW Bookmakers Co‑operative, which guarantees payments of bets placed through its members. Finally, its operations are subject to the Australian Bookmakers Association Code of Practice.

Palmerbet Online Betting Platform Review

The platform itself is designed with mobile devices in mind. Tab between “Racing” or “Sports”, then use the horizontal navigation bar to drill down into specific events. On desktop, click the hamburger button in the top-left corner for a more traditional navigation tree.

You’ll find more than 25 sports in total, which includes four of the biggest esports – League of Legends, Dota 2, Valorant and Counter-Strike 2. However, racing seems to be the specialist area for this bookmaker.

Platform Features

Most boxes are ticked when it comes to features, with same games multis, early cashout and responsible gambling limits all available. The lack of live streaming is noticeable, though. And although live betting is offered, it’s only through the telephone service.

Market coverage is surprisingly deep for an independent Australian bookmaker, comparing favourably against the big boys. International T20 cricket matches often feature more than 70 options, for example, with over 25 AFL lines and as many as 200 AFL markets.

Top Choice for NRL Odds

Palmerbet boasts extremely competitive odds on most sports. International T20s, for instance, are priced to 105.5%, producing similar odds to PlayUp, Betr and EliteBet. Only Ladbrokes and Neds consistently beat these prices – but only just.

We don’t know of a better bookmaker for NRL odds than Palmerbet, where some win lines are priced to just 104%. And AFL games are also consistently towards the top end of the market, comparable to those provided by TAB, Pointsbet and Sportsbet.

Soccer is the one exception, as EPL and A-League lines are priced to 108% and 109% respectively. That’s a much bigger cut than most Aussie bookmakers take, including Unibet, Neds and Sportsbet.

Punters Club

This cool little feature allows you to form a syndicate with your mates and punt from a shared balance. Lose the fiddly group chats – just form a club, deposit cash and give the referral code to your friends.

Punters Club lets you track individual performance, as well as overall, revealing who’s winning money for the group and who’s costing you. You’ll also benefit from special bonuses and promotions tailored exclusively to your club.

Payment Methods at Palmerbet

No review of the Palmerbet site would be complete without a breakdown of the payment options, so let’s crack on. As the table shows, there’s no shortage of deposit options – but it’s a different story for withdrawals.

Payment MethodDepositWithdrawal
Debit Card
Waave
PayID
PayPal
Apple Pay
Google Pay
Osko
Bank Transfer

In terms of debit card payments, only Visa and Mastercard are accepted. You can’t use a credit card, as these were banned in June 2024.

Payouts are quicker than average, due to Osko’s fast bank transfers – it never takes more than 24 hours. Palmerbet processes pending withdrawals twice daily. Once approved, funds are transferred almost instantly. Depending on your timing, you could receive the money in just a few minutes.

Transaction limits are low – deposit and withdraw from as little as $10 using any payment method. Palmerbet won’t charge any fees, either.

Is There a Palmerbet Mobile App?

Yes. There’s a sports betting app for both Android and Apple devices, available by clicking the links at the bottom of the official Palmerbet website. Alternatively, head straight to Google Play or the App Store and just search “Palmerbet online betting app”.

The apps are highly rated, scoring 4.5 out of 5 in both the App Store and Google Play, from over 50,000 downloads. It’s easy to see why, too. They look good, are easy to use and we’ve never encountered any bugs. Odds load quickly and transactions process smoothly.

Palmerbet Promo Codes

Although Palmerbet doesn’t have any welcome bonus codes, due to local regulations preventing this type of marketing, they do still run promotions. You just have to log into your existing account to see them.

If you’re part of a syndicate using Palmerbet’s Punters Club feature, expect special promos tailored to your own group.

Customer Support at Palmerbet

One of the few disappointing features is the lack of a live chat widget. Palmerbet is trying to maintain the old-school charm of a small, independent bookie, so the business relies on telephone support.

To be fair, there is a market for this type of thing – EliteBet also operates with a similarly traditional customer service model. But in today’s always-on world, it’s a little frustrating to wait for email replies, or make phone calls, to solve simple problems.

How to Create a Palmerbet Account

  1. Click a link in this guide to visit Palmerbet.com
  2. Tap the green “Sign up” button at the top of the page
  3. Fill out the form, including your phone and address
  4. Choose an optional deposit limit and solve the CAPTCHA
  5. Press “Sign up” to start the verification process

Although it looks like you’re logged in right away, you must first submit documentation – such as a driver’s licence or passport – before your account is open. It’s also necessary to confirm your registered telephone number.

Palmerbet Review – Final Verdict

This reputable independent bookmaker provides a user-friendly platform, with broad coverage and extremely competitive odds. The app is well-regarded by real users, while loyal customers particularly appreciate the traditional customer service.

We’d love to see a few more withdrawal options and live streams added, as well as a live chat widget. But those minor niggles aside, Palmerbet is an excellent all-round betting platform that we recommend highly.
